The Van Gogh Museum

The Van Gogh Museum is dedicated to the famous Dutch artist Vincent van Gogh. Van Gogh was a Post-Impressionist painter. He is one of the most famous and influential people in Western art. He mostly painted landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and self-portraits. The Van Gogh museum opened in 1973 and shows the largest collection of paintings and drawings of Van Gogh in the world. The museum consists of two buildings. One designed by Gerrit Rietveld and the other by Kisho Kurokawa. The museum also houses works by Van Gogh’s contemporaries such as Auguste Rodin, Maurice Denis, and Kees van Dongen. The Van Gogh museum is the second most visited museum in the Netherlands with an annual visit count of more than 1.5 million visitors a year.
